The SEG functions in close partnership with the Associated Examinations Board ( AEB ). The SEG offers GCSE exams and no A levels, the AEB A levels and no GCSE. Together with the AEB and the NEAB ( Northern Examinations and Assessment Board ), the SEG is part of the unitary grouping AQA ( Assessment and Quality Alliance ).
For the summer exam session of 1998, the AQA had 55% of the total individual exam entries by subject for UK candidates who sat A level and GCSE exams. At A level 32% of its candidates obtained grades of B and higher, at GCSE level the figure was 29%.
